#19. Happy New Year 2025!
As we welcome the new year, I’m reminded of a profound lesson from Rashmirathi, the epic poem by Shri Ramdhari Singh Dinkar ji.
In Mahabharat, Parshuram, angered by Karna’s lie about his lineage, curses him to forget the knowledge of the Brahmastra - the divine weapon - when he needs it most. Devastated, Karna pleads with his teacher to take his life, believing a warrior’s purpose is lost without the knowledge of Brahmastra.
But Parshuram teaches him the meaning of a true warrior:
English Translation:
"Knowledge of Brahmastra—what does it bring?
A true warrior doesn't rely solely on a single weapon.
A warrior is called great by creating new arts, crafting new creations, innovating new ideas, discovering new methods, new emotions, and staying inspired with fresh enthusiasm."
This wisdom holds a timeless lesson for us as software engineers. Relying on a single tool, language, or technology limits our potential. Growth lies in constant learning, adaptability, and the courage to innovate.
As we step into 2025, let’s stop defining ourselves by narrow labels like “Java developer”, “.Net Developer” or “AWS architect” etc. Instead, let’s focus on solving problems, mastering new skills, and embracing change. True engineers are problem solvers, innovators, and lifelong learners. They are Imagineers.
Here’s to a year of learning, resilience, creativity, and bold innovation. Let’s imagine, create, and inspire - together.
Happy 2025!
